In a New Hampshire quarry, the Makita HR4013C topped a field of five 1-9/16" rotary hammers.
The editors at ToolBoxBuzz.com gathered five top 1-9/16" rotary hammers and dust extraction systems. Then they took them to a quarry in New Hampshire for a side-by-side review.
After hours of drilling and chipping -- and based on a rigorous ten-stage criteria -- the Makita 1-9/1/6" AVT® Rotary Hammer came out on top.
Makita was named best in anti-vibration, ease of use/operating features, and chipping. It also received high marks for drilling speed, value, and bit changes. It was named their overall pick with this resounding thumbs-up:
"Makita took this Head to Head with superior AVT, great operator interface, and a few innovative features sprinkled in to top it all off. This tool performed exceptionally well in almost all categories, was a favorite among the crew, and is significantly more affordable than our number two model the Hilti TE-60-ATC-AVR."

Hard-Hitting Performance AND Comfort
In the development of the new HR4013C, Makita engineers focused not only on power and specs but also on the end-user's comfort when using the tool. The HR4013C with enhanced Anti-Vibration Technology (AVT®) gives concrete contractors the lowest vibration in the 1-9/16" category, while at the same time delivering 20% more impact energy for all-day industrial applications.
