STRANG CONTINUES HIS DOMINATION OF THE GNCC SERIES AT BIG BUCK

FMF Makita Suzuki’s Josh Strang has been a dominant force in the XC1 Pro class so far this GNCC season, and he proved yet again that he is the man to beat at the Big Buck race on Sunday. The Australian rider has gone four for four this season, with his Suzuki RM-Z450 carrying him to the top of the podium at every race.

The Big Buck race got off to a rocky start for Strang after his foot slipped off the kick start and started last, but was up to fourth by the end of lap one. The dusty track conditions made passing dangerous, but Strang bided his time and raced smart, making his moves only when he and the other leading riders hit the less-dusty woods section of the course. Strang motored his way to second place by the end of the second lap. Strang pushed hard to catch up, and made the final pass for the lead in one of the riskier dusty sections. Once he made it into the lead, he stayed in front all the way to the finish line with a 20-second lead. Strang’s win at Big Buck extends his lead to a staggering 42-point advantage.

In the Sportsman A class, Rodney Smith was leading until a collision with a lapped rider reinjured his thumb, and forced him to slow his pace. The veteran racer fought through the pain and continued to ride, taking third overall and helping him retain his status as the points leader in his class.

The next round of the 2010 GNCC championship will take place on April 24th-25th at the famous Loretta Lynn’s ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
