CURT LEDUC WINS CLASS 8000 OF TSCO VEGAS TO RENO, BEST IN THE DESERT RACE (BITD)
Rockstar/Makita/KC HiLites/Kal Gard Lubricants/Toyo Tires/Ford F-150. After the grueling 453-mile long race Curt finished best in class by six and a half hours. Curt and son Kyle LeDuc drew the 109th starting position meaning they had to pass several trucks and buggies to make their way to the front of the pack. The 100th position start also meant the LeDuc’s would have to deal with many rocks and a lot of dust being kicked up by the 108 competitors in front of them. The dust was so bad that Curt got slapped with a 30 minute penalty for almost hitting a truck and its drivers that had been broken down at the side of the road.
“I tried to go around one of the trucks in front of me and almost hit someone repairing their truck”, Curt said “I couldn’t see at all, the dust was so bad. I didn’t even know there was anybody there.”
Even with the 30 minute penalty Curt still dominated his class finishing 1st and17th overall. Curt is last year’s Best In The Desert Class 8000 Champion and this season has already won the Bluewater Resort & Casino 425, the Terrible’s 250 at Primm, and the recent KC HiLites Midnight Special.
Curt’s other son Todd also had a strong showing at the Vegas to Reno race driving his trophy truck with teammate Ron Whitton. Todd started 20th and was leading the pack by the 300th mile. Unfortunately the Trophy Truck slipped back to fourth and that’s where they finished.
The next BITD race of the 2008 season will be the Bilek Racing Silver State 300 on October 10th – 12th, in Mesquite, NV.
