MAKITA MITER SAW NAMED "TOP TOOL" BY WOOD MAGAZINE

LS1016L is best in side-by-side review of eight 10" Sliding Miter Saws

WOOD Magazine tested eight 10" sliding miter saws, and told their 500,000+ readers the results in the December 2010 issue. Only one was named Top Tool, and that was the Makita LS1016L.

WOOD tried out saws from Bosch, Craftsman, DeWalt, Hitachi, Jet, Kobalt, Makita, and Ryobi.  They tested them for accuracy, miter settings, and ease-of-use features, as well as power, capacity, slide action, cut quality, lasers, and more.  In the end, the Makita came out on top.

The WOOD editors particularly liked the Makita LS1016L for its power, the smoothest sliding and plunging action in the test, and the greatest miter range in the test at 60 degrees left, 52 degrees right.  They also liked the small footprint, dust collection, capacity, and cut quality.  In fact, they singled-out Makita's blade for "the best factory cuts out of the box, with no tear-out."

Capacity and Accuracy
The Makita 10" Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw (LS1016L) delivers best-in-class capacity and accuracy.  The 6 linear ball bearings and 4 steel rails deliver smooth, solid, dead-on accurate cuts. The innovative direct drive gearbox and guard system is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity, with 6-5/8" crown cutting capacity (vertically nested) and 4-3/4" baseboard cutting capacity.  The direct drive also delivers more power than a belt drive motor, a result noted in WOOD's product review.
